GRAF Grease Traps operate according to the principle of phase separation. It consists of a separation zone, a fat, oil and grease (FOG) collection area and a sludge compartment. The system reduces the flow rate of the wastewater so that solids, such as food leftovers, sink and settle in the sludge trap. The contaminants with lower density than water (FOG) float on the water surface. The purified water free of grease is then discharged into the sewer or the wastewater treatment plant. The size required for a particular application depends on the local water authority.
